Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about CV Score evaluation and usage.

General

What is CV Score?

CV Score is an objective CV evaluation tool that analyzes your resume against multiple measurable categories used by professional recruiters. It provides structured feedback on content, formatting, and areas for improvement.

How long does analysis take?

Most CV evaluations complete within 60 seconds. Results are delivered directly to your browser in real-time.

What file formats are supported?

CV Score accepts PDF files up to 5MB. PDFs ensure consistent formatting and are the standard format for professional documents. Both native text PDFs and scanned documents (via OCR) are supported.

Do I need to create an account?

Not to start. You can upload your CV and have it evaluated without an account. You create a free account (one click with Google or LinkedIn) once the evaluation is ready: that is what opens your results and keeps them in your dashboard. The evaluation itself costs nothing and needs no credit card; unlocking the detailed report is available through pay-per-report Credits or Lifetime Access.

Evaluation

What criteria are used for evaluation?

Every CV is scored on eight categories: Contact Information & Header, Professional Summary, Work Experience, Education & Qualifications, Skills & Competencies, Layout & Visual Design, Language & Communication, and Strategic Positioning & ATS Readiness. Together they contain 48 individual criteria, based on standards used by professional recruiters.

How accurate is the evaluation?

CV Score uses consistent evaluation criteria with versioned algorithms. While no automated tool can replace human judgment, our criteria are designed to identify common issues that affect CV effectiveness.

Can CV Score help with ATS optimization?

The evaluation includes analysis of formatting and structure that affects ATS parsing. However, ATS systems vary significantly, and we recommend also testing with specific job postings when possible.

Is my CV compared to other users?

No. Your CV is evaluated against absolute criteria, not other users. This ensures consistent, reproducible results regardless of who else uses the service.

Privacy

Is my CV data stored?

Your CV is stored securely in your account so you can preview it and re-scan later — we never share it with third parties. You can delete it, or your entire account, at any time from your account settings.

Who can see my CV?

Nobody. CV processing is fully automated. No human reviews your document during evaluation.

Is CV Score GDPR compliant?

Yes. We process minimal data, don't store documents, and don't track users. Our privacy-first approach exceeds GDPR requirements for data minimization.

Can I request data deletion?

Yes. Delete individual CVs and evaluations from your dashboard, or delete your entire account from account settings to permanently remove all your data. For formal requests, contact privacy@cvscore.net.

Technical

Why did my evaluation fail?

Evaluation can fail if the document is corrupted, password-protected, or contains only images without text. Ensure your PDF has selectable text or is a clear scanned document for OCR processing.

Can I evaluate the same CV multiple times?

Yes. You can score the same CV as often as you like to verify results — re-scoring is free. Unlocking the detailed report for another scan uses purchased Credits or an active legacy subscription.

Does CV Score work on mobile?

Yes. The web application is fully responsive and works on mobile browsers. However, we recommend using a desktop for the best experience reviewing detailed results.

What browsers are supported?

CV Score works in all modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend keeping your browser updated for the best experience.
