What does this ATS checker test?

CVScore extracts the text of your PDF and reviews the document with AI. This can highlight structure, wording and formatting concerns. It does not run your CV through Workday, SAP or another employer’s ATS, and it does not compare your CV with a job description. Illustrative check: copy your PDF text into a text editor. If sidebar skills interrupt a job description, try a single-column export and compare again. This is a manual example, not a measured ATS test.

ATS evaluation

What the ATS checker evaluates

Review of document structure and wording, with limits explained in our methodology.

Layout parsing

Looks for layout and readability concerns in the extracted document; it does not reproduce every parser’s reading order.

Section recognition

Reviews whether experience, education and skills have clear section headings.

Keyword coverage

Reviews professional terminology in your CV. Without a job description, this is not a match score or a list of an employer’s required keywords.

File & text extraction

Accepts PDF files up to 5 MB and 3 pages. Text is extracted from the PDF; OCR may be used when native text is insufficient.

Your report

What your ATS report shows

Review your PDF’s structure and wording. The assessment is free; the scores and detailed findings below are included in the paid Fix Report.

  1. 1

    Strategic positioning and ATS readiness

A category score within the full report of 8 categories and 48 criteria. It is CVScore’s AI assessment, not a score from an employer’s ATS.

  2. 2

    Specific findings, not generic tips

Every check is marked as a strength, a warning or an issue, tied to the exact section it refers to.

  3. 3

    Fixes ranked by impact

Use the recommendations to decide which parts of your document to revise first. They do not predict ATS screening decisions.

  4. 4

    Fix, then verify

The Fix Report ($4.99 one-time) includes numeric scores, detailed findings, suggested rewrites and a second report unlock to review a revised CV.

ATS checker FAQ

What does the ATS check assess?

CVScore extracts the text of your PDF and reviews the document with AI: section headings, structure, wording and formatting, alongside the other categories of the full report.

Can I start without an account?

Yes. You can upload your PDF and have it reviewed without an account. To see your result you create a free account with Google or LinkedIn — that takes a moment and needs no card.

Is the ATS check free?

The assessment is free: you learn how your CV performs overall and whether a revision is worth your time. The scores (0–100, overall and per category) and the detailed recommendations are unlocked with a one-time payment of $4.99. There is no subscription.

Does this reproduce an employer’s ATS result?

No. It does not run your CV through Workday, SAP or another employer’s ATS, and it does not return the result such a system would produce. It reviews the document itself for structure, wording and formatting concerns.

Do I need to paste a job ad?

No. The check reviews your CV on its own. It does not compare your CV with a job description, so it does not produce a match score for a specific vacancy.

Which file can I upload?

Accepts PDF files up to 5 MB and 3 pages. Text is extracted from the PDF; OCR may be used when native text is insufficient.

How is my CV processed?

We do not sell your CV. We use the service providers listed on our Subprocessors page for analysis and storage. An evaluation you start without an account is deleted after 30 days, together with the uploaded file, unless you assign it to an account before then.
