Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using CV Score ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and CV Score. By creating an account, uploading a CV, or making a purchase, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

These Terms incorporate by reference our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and any other policies referenced herein.

2. Definitions

In these Terms:

"Service"

means the CV Score website at cvscore.net and all related services, including the CV evaluation feature.

"User", "you", "your"

means any person who accesses or uses the Service.

"Account"

means a registered user account on the Service.

"CV" or "Resume"

means a curriculum vitae or resume document uploaded to the Service for evaluation.

"Evaluation"

means the AI-generated analysis and feedback provided for an uploaded CV.

"Free Tier"

means the limited free access providing 3 lifetime evaluations.

"Pro Tier"

means the paid subscription providing 15 evaluations per calendar month with enhanced features.

"We", "us", "our"

means CV Score and its operators.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 16 years of age.

You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

The Service is not available to users who have been previously banned or had their account terminated for violation of these Terms.

4. Account Registration

To access certain features of the Service, you must create an Account. You may register using your email address and password or through Google OAuth.

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your Account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your Account.

You may only maintain one Account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent service limitations or for any other purpose is prohibited.

5. Service Description

CV Score provides AI-powered CV evaluation services. The Service analyzes uploaded CV documents against objective document quality criteria and provides structured feedback including:

• Overall quality score
• Category-specific scores (structure, clarity, completeness, presentation, language)
• Detailed recommendations for improvement
• Comparison against professional standards

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time.

The Service is provided for informational purposes only. Evaluations reflect document quality assessment and do not guarantee any employment outcomes.

6. AI Disclosure and Limitations

CV Score uses artificial intelligence (specifically OpenAI's GPT-4O model) to evaluate your CV. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

How AI Evaluation Works

When you upload a CV, the text content is extracted and sent to OpenAI's API for analysis. The AI evaluates your document against objective quality criteria and returns scores and recommendations. No identifying information (your name, email, or account details) is sent to OpenAI—only the CV text content.

NOT a Hiring Tool

CV Score is designed exclusively for self-assessment by job seekers. The Service is NOT designed for, and must NOT be used for:

• Employer screening or candidate filtering
• Automated hiring or recruitment decisions
• HR shortlisting or applicant ranking
• Any decision that has legal effects on individuals

AI Limitations

• AI evaluations may contain errors, inaccuracies, or biases
• Results reflect document quality only, not your qualifications or employability
• A high score does not guarantee interviews or job offers
• A low score does not mean you are unqualified for any position
• The AI cannot assess industry-specific requirements or employer preferences

No Professional Advice

Evaluations do NOT constitute legal advice, career advice, employment advice, or any other professional advice. For career guidance, consult a qualified career counselor or professional.

Right to Human Review

You have the right to request human review of any evaluation. To request human review, contact support@cvscore.net. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Free Tier

The Free Tier provides limited access to the Service without payment:

• 3 lifetime evaluations (total across all time, not renewable)
• Basic scoring with category breakdowns
• General recommendations

Free Tier evaluations do not include detailed sub-criteria scores or comprehensive recommendations available to Pro Tier users.

We reserve the right to modify, limit, or discontinue the Free Tier at any time. Changes will not affect evaluations already completed.

Free Tier users may upgrade to Pro Tier at any time to access additional evaluations and enhanced features.

8. Pro Tier

The Pro Tier is a paid subscription providing enhanced access:

• 15 evaluations per calendar month
• Detailed sub-criteria scores
• Comprehensive recommendations
• Priority processing

Pro Tier subscriptions renew automatically at the beginning of each calendar month unless cancelled. Unused evaluations do not roll over to the next month.

You may upgrade from Free Tier to Pro Tier at any time. Pro benefits begin immediately upon successful payment.

9. Payment Terms

Pricing

Current pricing is available in the app. All prices are in Euros (EUR) and include applicable taxes where required.

Pro Tier: Current pricing is displayed in the app after sign-up.

Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Polar, our third-party payment processor. By making a purchase, you agree to Polar's terms of service. We do not store your full credit card information.

Billing

Pro Tier subscriptions are billed monthly. Payment is due at the time of purchase and at each renewal date.

Price Changes

We may change our prices at any time. Price changes will be communicated in advance and will apply to the next billing cycle. Existing subscriptions at the previous price will be honored through the current billing period.

Taxes

Prices may be subject to VAT or other taxes depending on your location. You are responsible for any applicable taxes not collected by us.

10. Refund Policy

Due to the immediate digital delivery nature of the Service, refunds are limited. By making a purchase, you acknowledge that:

EU Consumer Withdrawal Right

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from digital service contracts. However, by proceeding with a purchase and requesting immediate access to the Service, you:

• Consent to immediate performance of the Service
• Acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the Service has been fully performed
• Understand that evaluations delivered cannot be "returned"

When Refunds Are Available

We will provide refunds in the following circumstances:

• Technical failure: If an evaluation fails to complete due to a technical error on our end
• Duplicate charge: If you are charged twice for the same purchase
• Service unavailability: If the Service becomes unavailable for an extended period preventing you from using purchased evaluations

Requesting a Refund

To request a refund, contact support@cvscore.net within 14 days of the transaction. Include your transaction reference and reason for the request. Refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 14 days of approval.

Cancellation

You may cancel your Pro Tier subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting support@cvscore.net. Upon cancellation:

• Your subscription will not renew at the next billing cycle
• You retain access to Pro features until the end of the current billing period
• Unused evaluations expire at the end of the billing period and are not refunded

11. User Responsibilities

By using the Service, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information in your Account and uploaded documents
• Upload only CVs that you own or have permission to submit
• Use the Service only for its intended purpose (self-assessment)
• Not upload documents containing malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• Not attempt to circumvent service limitations, security measures, or access controls
• Not use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

You are solely responsible for the content of CVs you upload. We do not pre-screen uploaded content and are not responsible for any content you submit.

12. Acceptable Use

Prohibited Activities

You may NOT:

• Use the Service for employer screening, hiring decisions, or recruitment purposes
• Create multiple accounts to obtain additional free evaluations
• Share your Account credentials with others
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or evaluations
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
• Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
• Attempt to bypass rate limits or other technical restrictions
• Upload CVs on behalf of others without their consent
• Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others

Violation of these acceptable use policies may result in immediate termination of your Account and access to the Service without refund.

13. Intellectual Property

Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to CVs you upload. By uploading a CV, you grant CV Score a limited, non-exclusive license to:

• Process and analyze the document to provide the evaluation service
• Store the document in your account until you delete it
• Use anonymized, aggregated data to improve the Service

This license terminates when you delete your CV or your Account.

Our Intellectual Property

The Service, including its algorithms, software, design, branding, trademarks, and content (excluding user-uploaded CVs), is owned by CV Score and protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Service or included content, nor may you reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of our software.

Evaluation Results

Evaluation results generated by the Service are provided to you for your personal use. You may share or use evaluation results as you see fit, but you may not represent them as professional advice or endorsement.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do NOT guarantee:

• That evaluations will improve your employment prospects
• That the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
• That evaluation criteria match any specific employer's requirements
• The accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any evaluation or feedback
• That defects in the Service will be corrected
• That the Service or servers are free of viruses or harmful components

Your use of the Service is at your sole risk. We disclaim all liability for any harm or damage arising from your use of or reliance on the Service.

15. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CV SCORE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
• Loss of data or data corruption
• Loss of goodwill or reputation
• Failure to obtain employment or career advancement
• Any other intangible losses

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED EUROS (€100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer that cannot be waived or limited by contract.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CV Score, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Content you upload to the Service
• Any misrepresentation by you

We reserve the right to assume exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with our defense.

17. Termination

Termination by You

You may terminate your Account at any time by deleting your account through the app settings or by contacting support@cvscore.net. Upon termination:

• Your access to the Service will be revoked
• All your data, including CVs and evaluation results, will be permanently deleted
• Any unused evaluations will be forfeited without refund
• Payment records will be retained as required by law

Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your Account and access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, including but not limited to:

• Violation of these Terms or our policies
• Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
• Extended periods of inactivity
• Upon request by law enforcement or government agencies

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to: Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law.

18. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution

Before initiating formal dispute resolution, you agree to first contact us at legal@cvscore.net and attempt to resolve any dispute informally. We will endeavor to resolve disputes within 30 days of receiving notice.

Binding Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be finally resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). The arbitration shall be:

• Conducted in London, England
• Conducted in the English language
• Decided by a single arbitrator
• Kept confidential by both parties

The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class Action Waiver

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCEEDINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT IN A CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION.

If this class action waiver is found unenforceable, the entirety of this arbitration provision shall be null and void.

Exceptions

Notwithstanding the above, the following claims are NOT subject to arbitration:

• Claims that may be brought in small claims court (under £10,000 / €12,000)
• Claims for injunctive relief to stop unauthorized use of the Service
• Claims by EU consumers who may bring disputes in their home country courts

EU Consumer Rights

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. This does not affect your right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.

19. General Provisions

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other policies referenced herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and CV Score regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.

Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of government, labor disputes, or failures of third-party providers.

We may provide notices to you via email to the address associated with your Account or by posting on the Service. You may provide notices to us at legal@cvscore.net.

Headings

Section headings are for convenience only and have no legal effect.

20. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Subject to the arbitration provisions above, the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service.

If you are a consumer, nothing in this section affects your statutory rights or your ability to bring claims in your country of residence as permitted by applicable law.
